Activities leading up to the ultimate mission may include but are not limited to:

       1.  WebQuest

       2.  Guest Speakers

       3.  Field Trips

  • Animal Science Day @ Purdue
  • Physics Day @ Indiana University
  • Math and Science  @ Kings Island
  • Eli Lilly Tour

       4.  Research (Library, Internet, Expert in the Field etc.)

       5.  Brainstorming Activities Prior to Guest Speakers

       6.  Job Shadowing

Students, your ultimate mission, which you will decide to accept, is the following:

       1. You are to research a career not normally associated with science and math. You will then show how science and math are related to this career field. Criminal activities and obvious flights of fancy are not permissible. You will be graded on a presentation to the class. This can be a power point, poster, video interview or any medium approved by the teacher in advance. It is to be 8 -10 minutes in length and conform to the rubric.

        2. Tomorrow there will be a sign-up sheet to put down your career choice. You will be randomly selected to list your career so select several in case yours is gone when it is your turn.

Teachers, this is a sample general timeline for this entire unit.

1/29-2/2:  At least one guest speaker

2/26-3/2:  At least one guest speaker

     3/26-3/30:  WebQuest

4/23-5/7:  Choose 8-10 days for students to work on project during class time.  The remainder of the time regular classroom instruction will go continue.

     5/10-5/18:  Presentations

In the future we hope to have students coordinate a Job Fair with our career planning classes.
