Assessment

Tech-Know-Build

An Interdisciplinary Unit on Space

Assessment will take place using a variety of methods in each respective class.  Possible approaches may include Power Point or video presentations, formal essays, speeches, reports, or in the case of Science, the degree of success of the individual student's rocket launch.

  • A Power Point presentation with 10 to 15 slides describing what students felt was the most interesting or exciting thing they learned during their study of space.  The presentation must include an introduction and conclusion, a picture of their group and names of group members, at least two other pictures, and a reference page.
  • Video presentations should follow a similar format and should convey the knowledge the student has acquired during the unit.  The student will be given a large degree of creative leeway regarding the method of production.  Whether a student wants to create a fictional scientist, alien, or historical character to emulate for their presentation is a possibility.  Presentations should be 5 - 10 minutes in length.
  • Type-written essays, speeches, and reports will occur throughout the unit as additional methods of assessment.  Students will produce creative writing essays, develop timelines, and report on media articles related to our unit of study.
