An Interdisciplinary Unit on SpaceThe curriculum objectives for each discipline are: MATH - Students will express numbers in scientific notation, compute distances between planets, find circumferences of planets, and order and compare planet sizes. SCIENCE - Students will use physics to understand, and demonstrate, rocket propulsion. ENGLISH - Students will develop research skills by independently investigating the possibilities of forming a colony off-planet (i.e. the Moon, Mars, a space station, an asteroid, etc.). Students will use various media resources including magazines, library and software encyclopedias, expert opinions, and the Internet. SOCIAL STUDIES - Students will develop a time line of important events in space exploration history. Students will investigate the space programs ties to famous astronauts from Indiana.
