Investigations and Other Activities6th Grade Physical Education Activities The 6th grade physical education students will be active in an aerobic activity at least 3 times a week. These activities will be 20 minutes in duration. Examples of these activities are as follows:
During the school week, each 6th grade PE student will wear a heart rate monitor for 2 class periods. At the end of the period, the student’s with the heart rate monitors will down load their heart-rate data on the teachers’ computer. The students will get a copy of their down loaded information bi-weekly. At the end of the semester, the students will complete a poster of their own design demonstrating what they have learned about heart fitness. 7th/8th High School Physical Education Activities The basic physical education courses at Crawfordsville High School participate in a number of aerobic and anaerobic activities throughout the year. Units are set up to have a minimum of 3 aerobic exercises performed for at least 30 minutes every week. The coed classes are adapted to meet the needs of all students no matter what the fitness level. The advanced physical education course at Crawfordsville High School also participates in a number of aerobic and anaerobic activities throughout the year. Unit plans are set up to enhance the abilities and challenge the students to perform at a higher level. Aerobic exercises will be performed at an advanced level everyday for a minimum of 35 minutes. This course is offered for boys and girls separately and has a pre-requisite, an advanced level of athletic ability. Examples of Activities:
As the current sixth grade students continue in Physical Education all the way through high school, they will have data to compare as they mature physically and athletically. Mrs. Collom's Activities
