Below you will find some useful links.  Please note that most of our resources for this PBL unit came from these online sources, and not from textbooks.

 

 Zero Population Growth- This website has numerous resources for teachers and students.  Our Math/Science teachers used lessons from "A world of Six Billion" ( free download ) and "Our World, Our Future" a bilingual unit ( free download) as pre-PBL activities to help stimulate student interest in our main driving question.    We also ordered a free newsletter publication for our students.

Tons of Links related to population and grouped by categories.  This would be an excellent source for students.

The links listed below have content material that we downloaded to keep in our rooms.  We will only use this material on an as needed basis depending on the questions that the students come up with as they work through the PBL unit.  For example, if a student finds a census map while researching but doesn't understand how to interpret it, we can pull out an activity to create a quick mini-lesson on map interpretations.
 
 

Census 2000-  This webpage has many useful items including unit plans, teacher resource information, etc.  Many items are downloadable for instant access.  We used the grades 5-8 Teaching Materials in order to have lessons availabe "on the fly"  as the need would arise in the classroom.
