What is your ideal "Crib"?

Preparing students for the world in an American Literature class, we often examine the living conditions suffered by our ancestors.  Not only do we discuss the sterile puritan society, but the rough existence of those inhabiting the wild west.  These primitive beginnings seem so foreign to our students today.  The last few decades have been labeled "The Me Generation," "Generation X," and even the "Y Generation."  Yet, all have been around since the creation and evolution of MTV.

Compare what you are learning to what you already know.  Or what you see on TV every day.

This unit was designed for a Junior English American Literature class.  Student expanded on the American ideals presented in the curriculum about democracy, living conditions, capitalism, and the pursuit of happiness.  Several English 11 Standards were covered by this unit, and are listed on the Objectives page.
