New Police Station Old Police Station Project Description To introduce the project we are going to show the students an example of our mini-PBL unit on Quality of Water. This example will give the students an idea what they will be expected to do. Following the example, the students will then go on a historical tour of Crawfordsville, visiting some of the local landmarks and establishments. The students will then be placed in groups of three to four and begin mapping a research plan. In addition to the research plan, they will also begin selecting a specific topic to relate to our driving question. To give them practice with the Internet, we have designed a short introductory activity involving Internet searching strategies and use of multiple websites. After completing the pre-unit activities, the students will then begin constructing their working outline and begin early stages of research. Teachers will monitor each group's progress during this time and assist in locating resources, if necessary. Each group must have at least 10 sources, which can include an interview and a maximum of five Internet sources. Students will develop PowerPoint presentations based on their research and outlines to be displayed and presented in front of their peers with a time limit of five to seven minutes.
