NASA has recently sent probes up to the
planet Mars in search of signs of life. Specific conditions
(temperature, liquid water, surface and atmosphere makeup, etc.) must
exist in order for life to survive. Earth is the only planet in our
solar system that currently has all of these conditions and can sustain life.
In this project, sixth grade science students will examine the conditions found on the different planets in our solar system. They will compare the conditions on the planets with the conditions found on Earth. They will be able to explain, as well as build a model of how organisms would have to adapt if they were to live on another planet. Students will then take an imaginary trip to the planets and will journal what they encounter, as well as activities completed on the journey.
