Writing: Process
8.4.1 Discuss ideas for writing, keep a notebook of ideas, and use graphic organizers to plan writing.
8.4.4 Plan and conduct multiple-step information searches using computer networks.
8.4.5 Achieve an effective balance between researched information and original ideas.
8.4.6 Use a computer to create documents by using word-processing skills and publishing programs; develop simple databases and spreadsheets to manage information and prepare reports.

Standard 2 Students compute with rational numbers*express in a variety of forms. They solve problems involving ratios, proportions, and percentages.
Measurement
Standard 5
Students convert between units of measure and use rates and scale factors to solve problems. They compute the perimeter, area, and volume of geometric objects. They investigate how perimeter, area and volume are affected by changes of scale.

Investigations and Other Activities
Project Description:
Students evaluate the sidewalk and entry accessibility of the Crawfordsville community. Students will evaluate the community through site field trips, Internet and media research, and personal interviews.
Project Calendar, Timeline:
1st trimester – research, walking field trips, library and Internet research (one day per week)
2nd trimester – compile information into presentation format (one day per week), completion date for formal presentation is yet to be decided
