This was planned as an extension of the class having studied plant life.  I wanted to involve the students in the beautification of the planter beds that are already in existence around the school.  

It was suggested that they make use the internet, library, local Purdue extension office, and any other sources they could come up with.  Some students brought seed catalogues from home as well as gardening magazines.  Some of the seeds were purchased from local stores.

The entire process involved math, science, and English (Language Arts) activities, but could include social studies.
