Task

     Understanding Shakespeare requires some knowledge of his life.  In order to understand his life, you have to understand the lives of people in England during his life.

     Your job is to take a virtual tour of England during the mid to late 1500s and keep a journal of your travels.

     I have given you a map of England with six towns or cities for you to visit.  The names of these places have been erased and you will need to identify these places on your copy of the map.

     You will need to create a reason for you to travel.  Perhaps you are looking for a wife, or you are a child being dragged around England by your parents, maybe you are an actor or traveling musician, or even a bird flying around the countryside.  Let your imaginations run wild, but be sure that your journal entries include information that will clue the reader in to what sort of place you are visiting and how people live in that place.
