Introduction

Exercise is good for all ages.  You need to exercise three to four times a week for 30 minutes to increase the strength of your heart.  By strengthening your heart, your heart is able to pump more blood without having to work as hard.  When you work to strengthen your heart muscle, you also help to lower your risk of developing heart disease.

Heart rate monitors will be used during aerobic activities so you will know the level of intensity at which you are exercising.  As a student, you can benefit by using heart rate monitors in physical education to follow your conditioning and fitness levels.
