Our middle school is a laptop
learning school (meaning that each child has a laptop to use) so we are
continually searching for viable ways to use the computers in our
classrooms. We have found the WebQuest to be one of the most
intriguing ways to utilize all of the capabilities the amazing machines
possess. This, however, is the FIRST Quest I have created on my own,
so I apologize for the simplicity of it (and also for the many mistakes I
most likely made). Following, you will find a list of the Indiana
State Standards for Seventh Grade Language Arts that I hope that I covered
in this project.
-
Locate information by using a
variety of consumer and public documents.
-
Discuss the purposes and
characteristics of different forms of written text, such as the short
story, the novel, the novella, and the essay.
-
Create an organizational
structure that balances all aspects of the composition and uses
effective transitions between sentences to unify important ideas.
-
Support all statements and
claims with anecdotes, descriptions, facts and statistics, and
specific examples.
-
Use strategies of note-taking,
outlining, and summarizing to impose structure on composition drafts.
-
Use a computer to create
documents by using word-processing skills and publishing programs.
-
Review, evaluate, and revise
writing for meaning and clarity.
-
Revise writing to improve
organization and word choice after checking the logic of ideas and the
precision of vocabulary.
-
Write persuasive compositions
that state a clear position or perspective.
-
Write summaries of reading
materials that include the main ideas and most significant
details.
-
Use varied word choices to make
writing interesting and more precise.
-
Write for different purposes and
to a specific audience or person, adjusting style and tone as
necessary.
