"The burden that you carry in your hands is heavy..."                                                                                      -- A Messenger to Creon

Specifically for the teacher...

Objectives: Students will be able to...

  • use research techniques that will allow them to find useful information from the hoards of resources available.
  • give a solid definition and working understanding of civil disobedience and anarchy.
  • make connections between the ancient Greek civilization and the world with which they are familiar.
  • effectively make an argument for or against a stance and use information gathered to support the argument.

While this WebQuest was designed with a specific purpose in mind, you may alter the assignments and assessment to fit your needs in the classroom.

There are two rubrics for assessment, one is for assessing the notes that are collected and the other is for assessing the presentation of the verdict to the class, which should be supported by the information that the students found during their research.
